Why Stewardship?

Message From Msgr. Zapfel

Dear Parishioners,

One of my friends has a favorite expression: “God is good!” So simple, so to the point – so profoundly true. This joyful exclamation is filled with gratitude, as it recognizes that all good things come from our Heavenly Father, who loves us. This expression also renews us in hope, that the God who has been good to us in the past will always find new ways to show us His love.

Each of us is blessed by God – we see so many signs of His love each day. Count your blessings and I am sure that you will respond with a grateful heart: God is good!

When I celebrate Mass each morning, I thank God for you.
Without fail. Every day. Thank you for all the ways in which you help to make St. Leo the Great Parish a family of faith. Your prayers, your service in our parish and in our community, your commitment to live as a disciple of Jesus are all blessings. God is good!

Living our faith – serving the Lord and one another in His name is the responsibility of all. Likewise, each of us has a responsibility to financially support our parish family. Finances are not the first priority, but like every family, our parish family must pay the electric and heating bills and maintain our facilities. Payroll for parish staff and the school and religious education programs is an important part of the budget. It costs about $15.50 per family per week to operate our parish. It is important for the future of our
parish that we increase our regular income.

These are difficult economic times for many. It is also difficult economic times for our parish family. Please consider helping us. Thank you for what you are able to do in gratitude for all of God’s blessings to you. Together we pray: God is good!

With prayers,
Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Zapfel
