The advisory committee members met on Wednesday evening July 1, 2015 to begin discussions on a new ministry center for our parish. With the sale of the original school building finalized, and an expected disposition this fall, we turn our attention to planning a new parish center. This is an exciting time for the parish. The closing of our elementary school was certainly a disappointment, and took us all by surprise. Now we move forward with guidance of the Holy Spirit and we have an opportunity to make a positive impact on parish life here at St. Leo the Great.

During the coming two months the advisory committee has been charged with making recommendations to our Pastor for the new parish center. The committee has a full agenda including:

  • Looking at local parish centers to see what others have done in an effort to create the best possible combination of spaces to serve the needs of our community.
  • Analyzing existing space utilization to determine what sort of spaces we need to create.
  • Looking at various possibilities to construct a parish center on the available land.

The overall schedule is to complete the these first steps by September so we can prepare Final Designs by the end of the year in an effort to get our parish center open by the end of 2016.

The committee agreed to continue to seek wide parish input by holding parish meetings open to all as the committee’s work progresses.
