ChristLife: Discovering Christ: is a spiritual series beginning Sept. 21 for 7 Thursday evenings from 6:15-8:30pm at St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweet Home Rd. Amherst, NY 14226. QUEEN OF HEAVEN: Mary’s Battle for YOU!: St. Leo the Great will once again be offering this 8 part study on Mary, Queen of Heaven twice monthly beginning Sept. 16 on Sat. mornings 9-11am. 78 people enjoyed this series last Spring! Join us Sept. 16-Dec 16 as you are taken on a journey into a deeper encounter and understanding of our Blessed Mother. CATHOLICISM 101: COMING TUESDAY EVENINGS:

Are you one of those many Catholics who learned your faith as a child and stopped after you were confirmed? Perhaps you are eager to know more now that you are an adult? Well, this new series might be just where God is leading you! Msgr. Zapfel will also be present at our “Ask the Pastor”session. Twice a month, beginning September 19 on Tuesday evenings 7-8:30pm there will be a place where parents of children in religious education and any Catholic adult can grab a cup of coffee, some cake and ask questions about their Catholic faith.  This is a FREE session, no commitment, no homework. Can’t wait until September? Write up your questions on the postcard in the gathering space and drop them in the question box on the table in church.  We will answer them for you! Sessions are on the following Tuesdays: Sept 19, Oct 3, Oct 17, Oct 24, Nov 14, Nov 28, Dec 5 & Dec 19 will be our “ask the Pastor” evening with Msgr. Zapfel

Ministry Essentials: Intro to Catholic Teachings & Spirituality

Seminary class “Ministry Essentials” to be held at St. Leo the Great:

“Ministry Essentials: Introduction to Catholic Teachings”, taught by Dennis Mahaney, will be offered in room 115 on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., for 12 weeks beginning September 11. The course is part of the Christ the King Seminary’s Continuing Education Program and is open to anyone.

This introductory course will explore essential Catholic themes, history, and vocabulary for ministry and teaching the faith. Topics will include: theology; Jesus the Christ; understanding the scriptures; sacraments; the role of grace and redemption in the life of disciples; origin and mission of the Church; morality; forming a Christian conscience; prayer and spirituality; developments in Catholic thought since Vatican II; and social justice.  Each evening will cover one specific topic and will start with a brief introductory activity, video or reading distributed prior to the session.
